Delhi Lg VK Saxena, Cm Kejriwal Meeting Today To Take Stock Of Preparations For G-20

There will be a meeting chaired by the LG on Wednesday to review the preparations for the meetings to be held before the G-20 summit. Along with the Lieutenant Governor, the ministers of Delhi including the Chief Minister will also participate in the meeting. The LG-led renovation of roads, especially the IGI Airport, Ring Road and radial roads, establishment of Bansera on Yamuna bank as well as rejuvenation of water bodies including Najafgarh Nala, Asola Bhati Mines and Roshan Ara Udyan.

This will be the first time that the Chief Minister and the AAP government will attend a meeting regarding the G-20 summit. The meeting will be held at 11 am in the LG office. India officially assumed the chairmanship of the G-20 on 1 December and the theme of the Indian chairmanship was already revealed as ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam – One Earth, One Family, One Future’. This Reflects India’s motto to collectively respond to the urgent global challenges facing the world.

In view of the conference, many programs are being executed by the LG office in terms of cleanliness and beautification of the city. Many roads have to be brightened under these programmes. Water resources will also be improved. The meeting is taking place in the wake of the Prime Minister’s meeting with all Governors, Lieutenant Governors and Chief Ministers last week. The PM had urged everyone in that meeting to put in their best efforts to make the international event a success.

Earlier on 9 December, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting with the Governors and Chief Ministers of States and Lieutenant Governors of Union Territories through video-conferencing to discuss aspects related to India’s G-20 Chairmanship. The Prime Minister had said that India’s G-20 chairmanship belongs to the entire country and this is a unique opportunity to show the country’s strength. The Prime Minister stressed the importance of teamwork and sought cooperation of the States and Union Territories in various events.
